Concert at the 52 Marble HIll BOAT this Friday 09/30/11
Join us next Friday September 30th for the last and most awesome Villalobos Brothers summer concert of the season at the 52 Marble Hill Boat! This party officially closes our summer series and we’ll need all hands on deck to celebrate and finish this season with a bang!
We’ve been having a truly blockbuster month with parallel appearances at the Guggenheim AND Metropolitan Museums, but we decided that September wouldn’t be complete without a throw-it-all-out-the-window house party, complete with Milles Marshall distilling special concoctions in the kitchen, Abadá Capoeira Martial Arts Group spicing it up on the garden and even a rumored appearance by Brooklyn’s own Mad Town Horns by electric guitarist and ringmaster Seth Ginsberg.
Top it all off with not one, but two world-class mariachi bands: Mariachi Real de Mexico and Mariachi Infante and you can start to picture what your Friday night will look like.
Usual suspects and long time Villalobos Brothers collaborators poet Juan Kanagui, singer-songwriters Dakota Burl, guitar virtuoso Beto Flores, power duo Ramon and Miguel Ponce and powerhouse Rosa Avila will also be joining us on stage, to get you up on your feet and dancing to the punch and rhythm of 550 watts running through a wooden stage!
As usual, bring your best and most expensive cognac and drop it at the kitchen table (a six pack will also cut it) before joining the festivities! This is the best and biggest house party happening in New York City next Friday, so get psyched and come party with us!

Summer Concert Series
Six years ago, the Villalobos Brothers took a 100-year old dilapidated house in the Marble Hill part of Manhattan and turned it into an artists’ community. The grounds of the adjacent empty lot were leveled using rocks and fill from a nearby construction site and an old sailing boat was hauled onto the yard. With help from the community a stage was built and the boat was decorated using acrylics and high gloss polymers. This year’s Summer Concert Series was born out of the spirit of collaboration, music and friendship that has always prevailed at the house. It is a living testament to the talented musicians, writers, composers, painters, sculptors, authors, visual artists, choreographers, philosophers, dancers, mathematicians, poets and teachers behind this project.
